Ethical fashion is becoming more and more of a popular topic in today’s society which is why it is important for influencers and bloggers to maintain an environmentally friendly way of promoting Australian made products produced with sustainable materials. I will be researching this issue as my media niche to better understand how many fashion influencers actually take ethics and sustainability of their clothing into consideration when purchasing, and as a result communicate this to their followers on social media. In addition to this, I will research the impact that influencers have on their followers.
There is a strong correlation between the brand, the influencer and the followers. Influencers followers trust them and feel as though they can relate, leading to them to be persuaded to purchase items and products that they are promoting on her social media. At present, I believe fashion influencers followers are usually following and watching their content on social media using their mobile phones as this is the most accessible way to access Instagram anywhere, at any time.
Each day I will take notes and thoroughly record the details of my observations to creating new knowledge based on my experience of these observations. I will take field notes and keep a log of my data collection (findings and observations) to be analysed and take screenshots of any interesting information and data that will be of use in my digital artefact.
Ethical issues which I may come across during my research can include copy right ethics of authenticity and confidentiality, as well as the environment. In my research I have the ethical responsibility to consider all of these issues and manage them in a way that will not affect any individuals or brands. I do not have permission to copy and paste, I do however, have permission to describe my experience when observing these tweets and posts.
